Girls entered on a scholarship had to bear special discipline. Without knowing that, girls were breezily chatting before the stern faced female teacher opened the classroom door and casted a hard glance at them. She turned toward the black board and wrote “diligence, discipline, and obedience”. Girls looked strangely at the words and each other but the teacher ordered them to stand up to check their clothing before they could even say something.
